WatchGuard Technologies (News - Alert), a provider of Unified Threat Management (UTM) security appliance deployment solutions, has recently unveiled a firewall feature that configures itself, helping customers reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) on WatchGuard devices.
The cloud-based configuration utility – RapidDeploy – eliminates the need for IT security professionals to pre-configure the device and avoids unnecessary travel to the deployment site.
"With RapidDeploy, we're taking the delay out of the deployment process," said Roger Klorese, director of Product Management at WatchGuard Technologies, in a statement. "It's secure, it's fast, it automates basic configuration tasks, and makes remote or branch office deployment virtually hands free.”
The security appliance deployment solution delivers a secure and comprehensive cloud-based management solution, providing customers in distributed enterprise environments and MSSP partners with more dynamic configuration tools and even greater manageability of their WatchGuard devices deployed across multiple locations and geographies.
"The NCR Network and Security Services (NSS) team is excited about using WatchGuard's rapid deployment technology as part of our Site Shield service," said WatchGuard customer Lenny Zeltser, director of Product Management at NCR, in a statement. "Installing and configuring firewall devices in this manner will strengthen our ability to deploy NSS quickly and cost-effectively."
NCR Corporation is touted as a company that powers technology around the globe that makes it easier for businesses to connect and collaborate with customers, as well as measures up to specific company demands.
RapidDeploy makes security appliance deployment easier. No IT or network security expertise is needed on site to install and deploy the appliance. IT staff or security service providers can create and store configuration data in the cloud – public or private – and have the appliance directly shipped to its destination. Once they receive the appliance, it can be plugged into the power source, and it deploys itself by automatically "phoning home" to the cloud for secure download of its configuration settings.
