NEI Names New VP of Manufacturing Operations

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

In a bid to further improve processes across its manufacturing sites, NEI, a provider of appliance deployment solutions, has announced the appointment of a new vice president of manufacturing operations.

Taking the post will be William O'Connell, who served as director of the company's high-volume manufacturing, before this role.

O'Connell, who will report to Rich Graber, NEI senior vice president of engineering and operations, will now be responsible for "the direct planning, organization and implementation of all manufacturing operations supporting NEI's strategic goals and objectives."

Specifically, he will be responsible for directing NEI's manufacturing efforts and activities including scheduling and order fulfillment.

NEI has a number of manufacturing sites and is able to scale production capabilities based on any volume production need.

O'Connell has over 30 years of experience in the field and has been with NEI since April, 2000. Prior to this, he served as a new product program manager at Compaq Computer Corporation and worked for 22 years at Digital Equipment Corporation.

“Bill has a broad operations background including his experience here at NEI,” said Rich Graber. “His experience in volume manufacturing combined with product quality and cost control will allow us to provide consistent processes across our three manufacturing sites. Bill’s experience with complex and demanding programs will help strengthen NEI’s capabilities as we now address larger manufacturing and integration programs.”

NEI recently took home a 2008 Product of the Year award from INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine for its SN-2500 R2 offering.

The award recognizes the most innovated products of 2008 and highlights NEI's vision, leadership and attention to detail.

NEI announced the general availability of the SN-2500 R2 SAN Storage Subsystem earlier in December offering high flexibility, capacity and scalability.
