Free Webinar: All You Need to Know About Intel's Nehalem

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Intel Corporation recently introduced 17 new enterprise-class processors which offer faster data center transactions and improved energy usage. One of these processors, the Intel (News - Alert) Xeon Processor 5500 series is noted to be highly innovative and “represents a new era in computing.”

Nehalem, the code name for Intel's next-generation processor architecture, is designed from the ground up and takes “advantage of hafnium-based Intel 45nm hi-k metal gate silicon technology and unleashes parallel processing performance enabled by Intel QuickPath technology – for an integrated memory controller and high-speed interconnect per independent processing core,” according to the company.

To help service providers and OEMs learn more about the many benefits of the platforms, Intel is joining with NEI and Emerson Power Network for a free TMC (News - Alert) Webinar event, “Prepared for Nehalem?” on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 3:00 PM ET / 2:00 PM CT / 12:00 PM PT.

The free Webinar event will highlight Intel’s Nehalem eight-core micro architecture - from the basics of what it means, to insight on planning a conversion strategy and tips for streamlining the transition process.

Also, guest speakers, Jeff Hudgins, VP marketing, NEI; Steve Palermo, Product Manager ECG/SG, Intel and Christian Engels, Sr. Technical Marketing Manager for Embedded Computing, Emerson Network Power (News - Alert), will discuss topics like: “Why your application needs to be dual-thread friendly;” “How an ultra-high bandwidth on-board memory controller can change addressing and storage capabilities,” and “What changes when you access Nehalem’s 102GB/sec serial (QuickPath) four-channel interconnect.”

A live Q&A session will also take place following the presentation.  Register Now

As an extra bonus, those who attend and take NEI’s free online survey will also be eligible to win an iPod Touch!   Visit: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=pv3WS3sf5WKpaGpydBmjsQ_3d_3d
