Today, 40/100Gigabit Ethernet standards are driving the backbones of next-generation transport networks, data centers and computer farms.
MoSys, a provider of differentiated, high-density memory and high-speed interface intellectual property, announced a partnership with
Sarance, a supplier of high speed interconnect IP technology, to deliver joint PHY plus Media Access Controller solutions supporting 40 Gigabit Ethernet, 100 Gigabit Ethernet and Interlaken specifications.
The partnership focuses on developing a combined solution that leverages MoSys' (News - Alert) 10Gbps SerDes and Sarance's 40GE and 100GE MAC, Physical Coding Sub-layer or "PCS" and Multi Lane Distribution or "MLD" IP conforming to the emerging 40GE and 100GE standard using IEEE (News - Alert) defined XLAUI (40GE) and CAUI (100GE) interfaces.
By providing interoperability, application notes and direct engineering assistance, MoSys and Sarance enable Ethernet designers to reduce time-to-market, costs and risks when integrating 40GE and 100GE protocols, company officials said.
"Our combined solution for 40GE and 100GE, which are vital to cloud computing services, will help network service providers and data centers exploit the full potential of high speed Ethernet," David DeMaria, vice president of Business Operations at MoSys, said in a statement. "Our customers are now in a strong position to meet the needs of a networking infrastructure rapidly moving to 40GE, 100GE and beyond."
Sarance's IP has been tested by multiple silicon, system, and test equipment companies in system labs and validated in field trials running more than one trillion error-free Ethernet frames over live 100GE networks, Farhad Shafai, vice president of R&D at Sarance Technologies.
The combination of the technologies from both companies will accelerate the deployment of products that offer service providers the ever increasing bandwidth they require, as well as simplify the development of products for data centers that address the explosive bandwidth requiring higher-speed Ethernet, Shafai added.
Earlier in May TMCnet reported that MoSys adopted Apache Design Solutions' power and noise solutions, including RedHawk for SoC power integrity, Totem for custom IP validation and model generation, Sentinel for package design optimization, and PathFinder for electrostatic discharge verification.
