Convergys (News - Alert) waschosen to drive a BSS transformation project with business and technology services provider Logica (News - Alert).
“Convergys demonstrated through the quality of its people and experience that it could remove the risk from this crucial transformation project,” said John Carney, BT (News - Alert) client director and U.K. Telco head for Logica, in a statement.
Convergys Corporation, a vendor of relationship management, has announced recently that it will upgrade Logica’s BSS platform with its Rating and Billing Manager Smart App, part of Convergys’ Smart BSS Solutions portfolio. Convergys officials said the company will complete the transformation in the first quarter of 2011.
Logica recently signed a contract to administer the IT and billing requirements of a global telecommunications services provider’s white label managed services program, company officials say, adding that “available through the provider’s wholesale arm, the white label program enables other entities to offer telecommunications services under their own brands.”
With Convergys handling the transformation of Logica’s BSS platform, Convergys officials said the company will be able to provide its telecommunications client with “better operational resilience, improved revenue assurance, and an enhanced ability to launch new products and services.”
Logica officials hope to benefit from a lower total cost of ownership of its existing BSS platform. Carney said with an upgraded BSS platform from Convergys, “we will be able to deliver a more reliable billing solution for our client’s managed services program.”
“Convergys designs its Smart BSS solutions for low risk deployments, allowing our clients to benefit quickly from their investment in the platform,” said Bob Lento, president of Information Management for Convergys. “With this BSS transformation, Logica will be able to provide a more stable BSS platform to its client, which will, in turn, be able to deliver an improved and more compelling white label managed service program to its customers.”
In July, TMC’s (News - Alert) Carolyn Dawson reported that Echelon, a provider of network infrastructure products, and Convergys joined together to build up integrated smart grid solutions. These products are developed from Convergys’s scalable Smart Customer Information System solution and Echelon’s Networked Energy Services system which is a metering application. Users can use this software for utility billing and customer energy management applications.
