Telco Systems (News - Alert), a developer of Carrier Ethernet 2.0 compliant multi-service and MPLS solutions, announced that NebraskaLink, a consortium of seven Nebraska telephone companies, has chosen Telco Systems’ business Ethernet solutions to extend Metro Ethernet service across the State of Nebraska.
The network expansion follows NebraskLink’s procurement of a grant worth $11.5 million from National Telecommunication and Information Administration (NTIA). The member companies also have contributed $5 million for the Metro Ethernet network expansion.
The Ethernet network expansion will help the consortium serve its customer community, including several institutions, businesses, mobile operators and other service providers across the state, according to officials at NebraskLink. The new business Ethernet network will also help the company extend its services to hospitals, medical clinics, public safety services, city, county governments, and key businesses and industries in the state.
Telco Systems provides its T-Marc demarcation line and T-Metro aggregation switches to offer up to 1 gigabit to mobile operator's backhaul, business and educational institutions. The service also combines multi 10 gigabit Ethernet (10GE) network to deliver assured, reliable, high availability Ethernet services and backbone throughout the state.

According to Ludwick, Telco Systems provided the consortium with a cost-effective solution that encompasses a broad portfolio of products that fit the special needs of each of their customers. “Our partnership with Telco Systems helps make it possible for NebraskaLink to provide Ethernet services to our customers at the highest service levels available in the industry.”

In another related announcement, CENX (News - Alert), a provider of Carrier Ethernet services, announced the availability of new services designed to efficiently provision and manage business Ethernet Backhaul Services for any mobile operator or carrier using Ethernet in their network.
