Verizon (News - Alert) seems to having a very good run in terms of awards and has received accolades and honors from around the world for displaying sustained and consistent innovation in the Ethernet space. Recently, its contributions were acknowledge at the 2012 MEF (News - Alert) Carrier Ethernet Awards ceremonies held in the month of November in Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai and New York.

In addition to outstanding work in developing and delivering Carrier Ethernet business services, Verizon reportedly retained its hold on the “Global Service Provider of the Year award” for the fourth year in succession.

"To win the Carrier Ethernet Global Service Provider of the Year award for the fourth year in a row – on top of our other global accolades – is a tremendous achievement and a testament to our continued innovation in the ethernet space,” said Shawn Hakl, vice president for products and solutions at Verizon, in a statement.

While the MEF awards recognized excellence in marketing and delivery of carrier ethernet services, the newly instituted business application category rewarded successful service provider-client partnerships and excellence in marketing and delivery of carrier ethernet services.

Verizon's submissions featured Aicent in the mobile data services category and Juniper Networks (News - Alert) in the manufacturing category. It added more feathers to its cap by going on to receive two carrier Ethernet business application awards for Asia-Pacific, the North America Regional Service Provider award and the best marketing award for the Americas.

Verizon Wireless (News - Alert) announced that its network in the Northeast is once again operating at pre- Hurricane Sandy levels and all locations of its corporate retail stores in the storm-affected area are open for business with the exception of the Wall Street location in Manhattan that sustained damage during the storm.
