Interactive Intelligence (News - Alert), a provider of unified IP business communications solutions, reported revenues of $47.7 million for the three months ended March 31, 2011, an increase of 36 percent from $35.0 million in the first quarter of 2010.

The company’s product revenues increased by 32 percent, recurring revenues by 30 percent, and services revenues by 88 percent during the period compared to the 2010 first quarter.

Interactive Intelligence recorded significant growth as it saw strong year-over-year order increases across all major geographies and product groups.

“Total orders were up 55 percent over the first quarter of 2010, which included a near tripling in cloud-based contracts year-over-year. We’re executing well on our sales and marketing plans and are benefiting from an increase in new opportunities as a result of our relationships with key strategic partners,” said Donald E. Brown, founder and CEO of Interactive Intelligence, in a statement.

On a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis, the company reported net income of $3.1 million in 2011, with diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.16, compared to net income of $1.9 million in 2010, or EPS of $0.10.

Net income on a non-GAAP basis was $5.5 million in 2011, with EPS of $0.28, compared to non-GAAP net income of $4.2 million in 2010, or EPS of $0.22.

The company’s GAAP operating income was $4.9 million in 2011, up 23 percent from $4.0 million in 2010, while non-GAAP operating income stood at $6.8 million in 2011, with an increase of 34 percent from 2010.

Recently, Interactive Intelligence and EMW Middle East, a provider of converged information and communications technology solutions, signed a reseller agreement that enables EMW to offer customers throughout the Middle East the Interactive Intelligence solutions for contact center automation, enterprise IP telephony, and business process automation.
