loanDepot.Com is Recipient of Interactive Intelligence Innovation Award at Interactions 2011

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

This year at Interactions 2011, which is an annual global user forum hosted by Interactive Intelligence (News - Alert) that was held from May 24-26, loanDepot.com won the coveted Interactive Intelligence Innovation award.

TMCnet had the chance to speak with Mark Hansen, senior software architect for loanDepot.com at the event.

The company has been an Interactive Intelligence customer since they opened over 25 years ago, and utilizes various products offered by Interactive Intelligence, including the company’s dialer software and its standard server CIC. Hansen said, “From that, we integrated some custom software in order to do our job a little better.”

This year there was an increase in competition for the prestigious Interactive Intelligence Innovation award as four or five other companies were competing. Hansen remembers, “As Interactive was giving descriptions about all of the companies, everyone had really innovative ideas and I was a little nervous because the competition was pretty fierce. But, I think we won because various companies were doing a section of the product but we were actually doing all of that as we combined multiple elements in order to provide a full universal product. Our product kind of touched on various areas both on the dialer, on reports and on capturing the data all the way through to our loan origination system so we kind of had a full blown product.”

He continued, “Our development touched on all different pieces, whereas some of those other projects were just focused on a single application or function. It took us a good year and half of working on developing the products, and we basically we just responded to our users. In our case, it was our licensed mortgage bankers. From a technology perspective, we listened  to their requests and what they needed to have done and basically started to build and build until we realized we had this full blown product that could do all of these things. We were then nominated for their award and found out last night we won.”

Winning this award is a strong testament to the fact that Interactive Intelligence is offering a very flexible set of applications. “To win was very much a surprise. I have to do a slide presentation this afternoon and now I have to have my guys back at the office build me a bunch of PowerPoint presentations as I really wasn’t expecting to win,” Hansen commented.

Hansen conclude the interview by stating that, “There were multiple benefits of working with the company’s software including their software development kit, which allows programmers to interface with all of software through own code and access things like work queues user directories. Because of the fact that Interactive Intelligence uses Sequel server, at any point when needed to customize software it was very easy and help support and customer service was great. Every time we had a question they were right there for us.”
