ITEXPO Video: Test Driving the Cloud

If you’re like most enterprise customers, you are intrigued by the capabilities of the solutions offered in the cloud. Perhaps you’ve even sent some of your applications to this platform, but still hold tight to your data and key processes. Would you be more inclined to make the jump if you could first test the waters?
Interactive Intelligence is offering this test run. To get more insight into what the company has in stored, TMC’s Stephanie Mosca spoke with Joe Staples (News - Alert), CMO of Interactive Intelligence at ITEXPO West 2011 in Austin, TX that was held Sept. 13-15. Their conversation was captured in this video.
Staples announced the launch of a new service called Quick Spin which allows potential customers looking for cloud-based communications to test their service. Quick Spin is a 14-day free trial which permits customers to set up as many as 10 users, provides 3 different skill sets, 5 different work groups and access to the Web client at the desktop. Staples says it enables customers to “get a very good feel for the service that we offer.”
Commenting on the significant movement into the cloud, Staples said, “increasingly, the barriers are gone. Concerns about security are in the past. Concerns about how well the service will scale, are in the past. Now, people are focusing on the benefits.” Benefits which he outlined as: lower total cost of ownership, reduced IT staff and increased flexibility to the applications.
“Migration to the cloud makes sense,” he said. While acknowledging that the cloud education process slows sales, it does not create a ‘hard stop’ he said. Instead, he describes it as a “culture shift of new technology.”
