Business process outsourcing company Firstsource Solutions Ltd. Recently announced a new partnership with RuralShores to establish a 135 seat delivery center in Chand, a village in Chhindwara District in Madhya Pradesh in India. The goal of the alliance, said the companies, is to bring BPO work to rural India. Together, the two companies plan to set up this rural office as a way to empower Indian youth seeking BPO-related careers and create more employment opportunities.
Chand is a village located 27 kilometers away from the Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh. All employees arrive from villages within a radius of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles) from Chand. The RuralShores Chand center is completely equipped with IT infrastructure and meets the standards and regulatory requirements, said the companies in a press release. The center's goal is to offer global-style business process outsourcing services from a rural area in need of employment and career opportunities.
RuralShores currently has 135 seats in the Chand center and plans to scale up to 250 seats by May of this year. With the help of Firstsource, more than 175 individuals are operating out of its delivery center. Through this partnership, the two companies are primarily servicing customers in regional languages.
“Rural India holds a lot of potential and talent waiting to be tapped,” said Shalabh Jain, EVP, Asia Business Unit for Firstsource Solutions. “With our partnership with RuralShores, we are positive that we can provide great opportunities to the youth without having to move away from their village. However, more importantly, rural BPOs compliment our focus to penetrate the Indian market,” he said.
“We are happy to be associated with a leading service provider like Firstsource to help address the cause of youth empowerment in India,” said Murali Vullaganti, CEO of RuralShores. “I am certain that we have a great potential for more ventures in a market with a growing landscape like rural India.”
