Legal processes are long drawn out affairs and the amount of manual and paper work involved is voluminous. Hence, there is an urgent need to not only to reduce the time taken to complete the work, but also to make it more transparent. Onit, a provider of business productivity and process management apps, has apparently managed to achieve both.
LegalTech New York 2013, which is currently underway, saw Onit demoing 10 legal apps, which will reportedly automate processes in a few clicks, notify responsible parties immediately and centralize data collection, according to officials.
While the Contract Review and Approval app helps achieve higher contract compliance rates, mitigates risks and increases external customer satisfaction, the Contract Administration app lives up to its name by allowing teams manage contracts and business documents and provides administrative visibility.
The Onit Matter Management app goes one step further and organizes the company's legal information so that legal teams have immediate access to critical information and performance metrics, while the E-hold Management app reduces risks, simplifies compliance and reduces administrative overheads.
Reducing cycle time and keeping costs down is imperative and this is achieved by the NDA Request app. The Collaborative Budgeting app makes compiling and collaborating on budgets easier, allowing teams to get a handle on spend forecasts and staffing plans.
Alternative fee arrangement (AFA) approvals can be managed with the AFA app and this improves response times and simplifies the process, while the Outside Counsel Engagement app helps manage outside counsel, making the matter management system more valuable.
The Legal Process Outsourcing app automates workflow and notifications, tracks progress and reports on service level agreements and also provides a real-time dashboard to view the status of all transactions in the portfolio. The Matter Intake app helps collect all data to get a matter opened and assigned to the right attorney. It also ensures that attorneys have everything they need to get started immediately.
Onit Apps for Legal appear to be highly configurable, flexible and an inexpensive investment. Within 30 minutes users can configure an app to suit specific needs and within an hour they can define and deliver a custom app to automate processes with the Onit App Builder.
