Evana Automation to Supply Automated Assembly Cells for Automotive Supplier

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Evana Automation Specialists received a contract for the provision of two custom, semi-automated assembly cells that facilitates the production of automobile seat rail link arms from a Tier 1 automotive supplier. The assembly cells will be delivered by April, 2013.

The delivery will include poke-yokes to verify part presence, press depths, press forces, weld presence and weld bead profile, said Evana, which is a systems integrator and builder of custom, automated assembly and test systems.

Randy Wire, GM of Evana Automation Specialists said, “Evana is always happy to win new business from repeat customers. These new custom assembly cells will feed product to an automated rail assembly line that was also built by Evana.”

The first automated assembly cell that will be delivered features a multi-station dial that can feed, press and caulk a bushing and also feed and press a pin into a link arm.

While the second automated assembly cell is a multi-station dual dial system that will feed, press and caulk a bushing and also pick and press a pin into the link arm and weld it. To enable the welding capability, Evana will be integrating a Panasonic (News - Alert) robot to the system.

Evana synergizes the capabilities of production equipment with material handling systems, data collection, networking, computer software and hardware to enhance motion control, robotics integration and system architecture.

Its flexible and unified technology enables easy integration of test equipment into assembly systems as well as standalone systems for automatic testing and in manual test benches.

The holistic system optimizes custom assembly and test solutions for manufacturers in industries like automotive, aerospace, defense, healthcare and alternative energy.

In 2011, Evana Automation Specialists delivered an automated kitting line to a major automotive manufacturer, containing seven workstations and six press stations. The kitting line, which was a follow-up order to a shipment of kitting lines purchased previously by the same auto company, is used to organize transmission components into kit boxes for installation into three different transmission models.

Evana is a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries which serves high-tech industries like aerospace, defense, automotive, alternative energy, healthcare, security and semiconductor.
