Driscoll Children’s Hospital, a 189-bed pediatric tertiary care regional referral center, recently chose Ascend Software’s SmartTouch AIR and SmartTouch AP Business Automation solution with Mobile App Approvals, to improve its Accounts Payable department.
It was only after evaluating all the major Infor Lawson imaging vendors that Driscoll opted for Ascend Software solutions.
Ascend’s solutions will provide Driscoll, a complete AP Imaging & Business Automation system that will not only improve controls but will also offer them the security required.
The system will be used to image, OCR, extract and recognize AP invoice data, automate the approval process. Officials said that it will also provide an Enterprise Content Management solution that will help manage all images and reports.
“Ascend was able to demonstrate not only how robust their Procure-to-Pay scanning solution is, but also how fully integrated it is with the Infor Lawson ERP system,” said Jennifer Brooks, Driscoll Children’s Hospital - Manager of Health Plan and Business Applications, in a press statement.
The solution’s real-time integration and validation with the hospital’s ERP is a standard feature. The flexible solution is also adaptable to a wide range of document types and workflow configurations.
Furthermore, Ascend offers the hospital with flexible AP approval routing, including the ability to employ “ad hoc” routing when needed. Now, the Driscoll approvers will be able to review and approve transactions via mobile devices. The hospital also appreciates the benefits of Ascend’s accelerated implementation process.
The ability to provide extensive security controls at the document level enabling a single ECM repository for all departments, configurable metadata for scanned content and a detailed audit trail are some of the other factors which motivated Driscoll to opt for Ascend Software.
Driscoll Children’s Hospital has a medical staff comprised of pediatric specialists in more than 32 medical and 13 surgical specialties offering complex and comprehensive medical and surgical care for children.
