With over 15 billion devices estimated to be connected to the cloud and the global cloud computing market set to grow from $40.7 billion in 2011 to $241 billion in 2020, Citrix application performance management and monitoring services are continuing to gain momentum.
In fact, according to OPNET, application performance management has become a critical IT discipline because maintaining the performance and availability of applications is the primary service that the IT department provides to the enterprise.
To help enterprises better deal with application performance monitoring, A10 Networks (News - Alert), a company specializing in application delivery controllers (ADCs), launched its new A10 Thunder Series platforms. The platforms are designed to provide unified applications service gateway functionality for cloud services.
Based on A10's scalable and flexible advanced core operating system (ACOS), the new ADCs consolidate premium solution modules for intelligent cloud services in the most efficient form factors, the company said.
The first release of A10 Thunder Series release includes three high-end unified application service gateway (UASG) models. They are suitable for the most demanding carrier, Web giant, enterprise applications, high density deployments and multi-vendor data center consolidation.
Offered in a 1 RU appliance, A10 Thunder Series combines functionalities such as carrier grade NAT (CGNAT), IPv6 migration, DNS application firewall, Web application firewall (WAF), SSL intercept, distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection, application access management (AAM), and more.
Additionally, the product’ hardware includes two Intel Xeon eight-core processors, four 40-Gigabit ports (QSFP+), 16 1/10-Gigabit ports (SFP/SFP+), 128 GB of ECC RAM (News - Alert) and solid-state drive (SSD). A10 Thunder 6430 and 6430S also feature highly efficient power supplies, with the maximum power consumption only being 680 watts, hot-swap smart fans, tamper detection, lights-out management (LOM/IPMI), L2/3 networking ASIC and four flexible traffic ASIC (FTA-3) processors
The third offering, A10 Thunder 5430S UASG delivers 2.8 million L4 CPS and application throughput of 77 Gbps in a 1 RU appliance. It features an Intel (News
- Alert) Xeon eight-core processor, four 40-Gigabit ports (QSFP+), 16 1/10-Gigabit ports (SFP/SFP+), 64 GB of ECC RAM and solid-state drive (SSD).
Thanks to the efficiency delivered by FPGA and ASIC technology coupled with fast Intel Xeon CPUs, A10 Thunder series delivers the highest connections per second, throughput, DDoS SYN Flood protection and SSL performance per RU.
"A10 Thunder Series continues our innovation by leveraging ACOS for the industry's most scalable cloud services in the most compact and flexible platforms," said Lee Chen (News - Alert), founder and CEO for A10 Networks, in a statement. "A10 Thunder delivers a competitive advantage for customers with advanced service modules designed to run in a single platform that would previously require multiple vendor solutions and licenses."
