The rise in desktop virtualization and cloud computing is pushing the market for application performance management to expand. In fact, virtualized application performance monitoring is now considered critical in order to optimize bandwidth and ensure the security of enterprise networks remains at a high level.
Further, the growing bring your own device (BYOD) trend presents innumerable challenges to enterprise computing. An uncontrolled and a vulnerable hosting infrastructure can lead to inadequate delivery of support services, potential security breaches and unnecessary cost.
To help organizations build and manage cost-effective desktop virtualization infrastructure and prevent BYO chaos, Unisys (News - Alert) Corporation has unveiled Unisys Workspace as a Service.
Unisys Workspace as a Service delivers a comprehensive range of advisory and cloud-based services for desktop virtualization, helping clients define and build a standardized, cloud-based desktop virtualization infrastructure based on EMC (News - Alert) VSPEX.
The platform also supports other virtualization architectures such as VCE Vblock Systems, Citrix XenDesktop and VMware Horizon Suite. Enterprises can deploy the infrastructure as a private cloud in the client's data center, managed by either Unisys or the client; as a hosted private cloud in a Unisys data center; or in a shared cloud environment.
Some of the most important components of Unisys Workspace as a Service solution include advisory services, solution design services, deployment and migration services, virtual desktop end-user management services, and desktop virtualization infrastructure management.
"The end-to-end approach we take to desktop virtualization empowers clients to impose order on a potentially chaotic IT environment," said Dan Huberty, chief technology officer, Unisys Global Managed Services, in a statement.
According to Huberty, Unisys Workspace as a Service is designed to be fully compatible with other cloud and enterprise data center offerings, giving organizations greater flexibility to choose their own cloud infrastructure models and offering greater consistency in the end-user experience for a wide range of workers.
Michelle De Hertogh, senior director, Global Alliances and Service Providers, EMC Corporation (News - Alert), addedd, “Unisys Workspace as a Service solutions give EMC clients a new way to build a flexible, cost-efficient infrastructure and deliver comprehensive, uniform support services to their end users in a virtualized desktop environment."
