Citrix Application Performance Management

In order to remain competitive in whatever industry they happen to be in, companies must continuously expand their suites to reduce costs, speed up deployment of important data via the cloud, and gain access to next-generation capabilities. Hence, that a partnership between Nvidia and virtualization company Citrix was formed with the goal of enhancing the hypervisor, driver and hardware levels should come as no surprise to anyone looking to get a leg up on robust technology.

Not only does migrating to a virtualized environment enable organizations to become much more efficient and work from wherever they happen to be located at any time while simultaneously eliminating the need for costly hardware and software, it can also significantly improve processes related to application performance management within Citrix-based environments. In fact, “end-to-end application performance is dependent upon the complex interaction between multi-tier applications, servers, and the network infrastructure,” according to OPNET’s website. To improve application performance and enhance the end-user experience overall, key elements, including baseline assessments, dependency mapping, predictive planning, testing, monitoring and troubleshooting must all be closely analyzed.

Highlighted for only being able to be seamlessly integrated with Citrix's XenServer and XenApp at this time, Nvidia is hoping that the recently formed alliance will eventually make it possible for the updates made to its VGX technology to be brought to major products such as VMware and Microsoft (News - Alert).

“The updates to VGX will deploy virtual desktops running full Windows 7 and users will be able to run multiple applications in each session. What we are delivering is a true PC experience," Sanford Russell, director of Grid Marketing at Nvidia, said in a statement. It looks like, for now at least, we will have to sit back and wait to see if this partnership yields the intuitive product that has long been requested by global users.

In related news, Citrix’s XenApp made headlines back in January when NovelASPect, a provider of Citrix QuickBooks hosting and cloud computing services, began to implement Citrix XenApp 6.5 on all of its servers. The project was completed in order to help customers utilize a more reliable and highly secure hosting service.
