Cloud Carib is a Nassau-based cloud business solutions provider offering a wide range of cloud computing and IT solutions, with a core focus on infrastructure and application virtualization. The company has just announced the availability of hosted virtual datacenters, delivered securely as a service on VMware's vCloud platform.
With this announcement, Cloud Carib becomes the first company in Latin America & Caribbean to achieve the Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service solution competency, according to company officials.
According to a recent study conducted by ESG, 67 percent of mid-market and enterprise companies surveyed now run what they view as mission-critical workloads on IaaS, while more than 80 percent of IaaS customers surveyed are running production workloads on IaaS.
“This puts Cloud Carib in a unique position to benefit from the tremendous demand we are seeing in the fast-growing Cloud IaaS space," said Leonardo F. Gonzalez-Morillo, sales director, North of Latin America for VMware, in a statement.
The virtual datacenters, hosted in Bahamas, are offered to select clients. The hosted IaaS mostly benefits mid-market and enterprise Caribbean firms operating in sectors that require secure, compliant, and validated IT infrastructures. Some of the benefits to Caribbean firms include shorter implementation time compared to building a virtual infrastructure on-premise; simplified administration, reduced electricity cost and datacenter footprint; elastic capacity; flexible billing; and easy management and monitoring.
"The paradigm shift from legacy IT infrastructure platforms to the advent of cloud computing offers organizations with on-demand flexibility, resiliency, scalability and cost control enabled with cloud-based infrastructure," said Anthony Giorgi, member of the Advisory Board of Cloud Carib and former sales director of Q9 Networks.
Cloud Carib is now offering the service with limited availability; existing Cloud Carib customers have priority access to this new offering. Additional slots will be offered in Q1 2013 when more availability zones are added.
