Rackspace (News - Alert) Private Cloud Software from open cloud company Rackspace Hosting now includes several new features. The free and open source Rackspace Private Cloud Software is powered by OpenStack and supported by Rackspace Hosting’s (News - Alert) own Fanatical Support services.
Now, the updated release has several features including OpenCenter, a single interface that enables deployment, configuration and operation of clouds at scale in an enterprise data center. The company notes that OpenCenter improves up-time and reduces business risk for organizations by providing API or point-and-click deployment and management of high availability environments for the OpenStack controller nodes.
The release also allows the customers to pick from Ubuntu (News - Alert), Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS for the host operating system in Rackspace Private Cloud deployments.
“The Rackspace Private Cloud Software gives us more choices on how to best manage our cloud environment and bring DevOps capabilities to our customers,” said Juan Caceres, services director at JC Global Resources, in a statement. “We can either leverage Rackspace to support our environment when needed or have them completely operate it for us – on or off premise."
Elaborating on its Rackspace Private Cloud Software, according to the company, the solution combines stable OpenStack community 'trunk' code and proven Rackspace tools, packaging and configuration.
Looking forward, Rackspace intends to continue introducing new open cloud capabilities that are designed to allow customers to have a true ‘cloud anywhere’ experience through continuous integration and delivery, workload portability and network interoperability. Customers can leverage workload portability to move and scale workloads between Rackspace public and private clouds. They can also use network interoperability to create a true hybrid cloud on a single network.
Rackspace Hosting is an open cloud company, delivering open technologies and powering more than 205,000 customers worldwide.
