Akamai Joins OpenStack Community

Akamai (News - Alert) Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of cloud optimization services, today has joined the OpenStack community, a community of more than 100 companies, including coming together to create a massively scalable cloud operating system.


As the member of the community, Akamai will provide advice and guidance on best practices for platform design and architecture to help overcome the availability, delivery, performance, and scale challenges. .  

"Acceleration, optimization, and control of distributed cloud computing environments are core to our business at Akamai. We're bringing that experience to the OpenStack community as they create a robust foundation for cloud computing adoption," said Andy Champagne, vice president, Products and Technology, Akamai, in a statement. "Our goal with participation in the community is to help position OpenStack to address the control, scale and performance challenges that come with delivering globally distributed enterprise class applications."

Recently, the company announced the agenda and featured speakers for Akamai Edge 2011, its fourth annual Customer Conference, taking place next week, October 12-14, 2011 at Boston Marriott Copley Place. Business and technology leaders from Activision (News - Alert) Blizzard, Comcast, comScore, Fandango (NBC Universal), Finish Line, Google, Investec, MTV Networks, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Research in Motion, SAP (News - Alert), Shaw Communications, Standard Chartered Bank, Staples, Thomson Reuters, Threadless, Trion World, and many others, are scheduled to present during the three-day conference.
