Intermedia, the world's largest third-party Microsoft Exchange host and cloud service provider, finalized the January acquisition of Telanetix (News - Alert), a cloud-based communications solutions provider, giving it a clear advantage in cloud voice and hosted PBX services for SMBs in the U.S. With this transaction, Intermedia (News - Alert) will be able to execute its Office in the cloud with an integrated suite of services to businesses and support channels. The purchase price for the company totaled $55 million, which included the assumption of $13 million in debt and liabilities.

The Intermedia Office in the cloud services gives organizations the tools to communicate, collaborate, manage content, and deploy enterprise-grade application infrastructure. It has an enterprise grade security with implementation for mobile devices and full integration for users and administrators. The service includes:

• Hosted Exchange – for employee productivity with mobile-ready, business-grade e-mail, calendars and contacts
• Hosted PBX (News - Alert) – to extend rich, reliable calling features
• Cloud Server – run business apps on an enterprise-grade cloud application infrastructure
• SecuriSync – giving businesses control and protection with cloud file sync and share that gives users simplicity and mobility  
• Lync Secure Chat and Conferencing – a single tool for text chat, video chat, screen sharing, and presence information to connect employees on different devices.  

Additionally it provides conference calling and SharePoint content management with flexibility, migration, support, integration, and 99.999 percent uptime with a financially backed SLA.

During the announcement of the purchase back in January, Doug Johnson (News - Alert), CEO of Telanetix and AccessLine, said, "Intermedia has become a fast-growing, innovative, and market-leading cloud services platform provider. As such, this transaction will enable our 40,000 customers and partners to have access to an even broader suite of enterprise-grade cloud services. Telanetix provides voice over IP (VoIP) services to business with the latest technology to increase productivity while saving costs. The products it provides, which include cloud-based business VoIP phone service (hosted PBX), SIP trunking service, and modular cloud-based individualized services are sold through direct and indirect channels to more than 40,000 business customers.
