CSC Unveils On-Premise Private Cloud Billed as a Service in Canada
April 13, 2012
CSC (News - Alert), a provider of technology-enabled business solutions and services, announced the availability of CSC BizCloud in Canada.
BizCloud, a VMware vCloud Datacenter Service, provides the components needed for a private cloud that is preconfigured, integrated and tested, on their premises and behind their firewall. The service, according to CSC, is the first on-premise private cloud billed as a service.
The service combines the privacy, security and control of a private cloud with the agility, convenience and commercial model of a public cloud. It is ready for workloads in 10 weeks. BizCloud was initially launched in the United States in February 2011. Now the service is also available in Europe, Australia and Asia.
Based on a fully integrated VCE Vblock, BizCloud comes with a service catalogue, chargeback methodology and automation to simplify management and orchestration.
The Vblock integrates leading virtualization software from VMware; the Cisco (News
- Alert) Unified Computing System comprising unified networking, security, compute and orchestration; and storage, security and management technologies from EMC.
“By leveraging a converged infrastructure platform and solutions from VCE, CSC is helping clients in Canada exploit the business and economic advantages of a cloud-based infrastructure,” said Todd Pavone, executive vice president, VCE, in a statement. “With our combined expertise and leadership, VCE and CSC are working together to accelerate data center transformations.”
The security monitoring and management included with BizCloud satisfies the requirements of most security-conscious organizations. The service also accelerates the adoption of private cloud by businesses and government agencies, eliminating lengthy capital acquisition cycles.
“BizCloud and the CSC IaaS layer, CloudCompute, provide the centerpiece of the modern virtualized datacenter,” said Siki Giunta, vice president of Cloud Computing and Software Services, CSC, in a statement. “There is a model for every organization. Whether you want self-managed or managed service options, or a private, public or hybrid cloud, CSC is following through on our promise to deliver the right cloud, the right way.”
CSC also recently announced the availability of CSC Unified Communications (News - Alert) as a Service (UCaaS) based on Cisco’s Hosted Collaboration Services in Canada. CSC's UCaaS solution enhances clients' productivity and accelerates business processes and decision making while lowering costs.
