Unitrends 7.0 Unveiled
December 17, 2012
Unitrends, a dealer in affordable, heterogeneous, vertically integrated, disk-based all-in-one data protection appliances, recently rolled out Unitrends 7.0 backup software for virtual and physical environments.
The company has brought out this software along with hot replication and retention, private virtual machine spin-up and VMware SAN direct backup and recovery, as well as application-aware VMware backups, one-click recovery and cloud-based deduplication.
With the new release, Unitrends is offering application consistency during backups and is also enhancing the application awareness of VMware host-based backups. Further, one click recovery allows for instant recovery and bare metal recovery, and cloud-source deduplication extends dedupe to the cloud.
“Having the ability to protect data across physical, virtual and cloud environments is essential to companies today, and our mission has always been to enable our customers to do this easily and affordably,” explained Dr. Mark Campbell, chief strategy and technology officer at Unitrends in a statement. “Unitrends 7.0 extends our legacy by providing a broad range of capabilities that make it easy for companies to expedite backup and disaster recovery processes, ensure continuous access to data, and maintain business operations regardless of what is happening around them.”
Furthermore, the company added an expanded enterprise application as well as additional platform support, SQL Server and Microsoft (News
- Alert) Exchange support to its latest version.
Even more, Unitrends 7.0 also includes agent push simplification, which deploys, install, and upgrade, Windows agents from their backup appliance – all while cutting down on total cost of ownership (TCO) and lowering time-to-value.
Unitrends is known for offering affordable all-in-one D2D backup, archiving, disaster recovery (DR) appliances that support Windows, Linux, Netware, Exchange, SQL Server and over 100 other versions of operating systems and applications, servers, PCs, notebooks, DAS, NAS and SAN. This includes its Web based single pane of glass interface that allows users to manage and monitor one or more appliances. The solutions are also designed to be elegant to achieve conceptual integrity in design and in operation.
