Physician Groups in California Chart 2013 Path for Patient-Centric Healthcare and Welcome New Board Members

The California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) announced today the election of 14 new members to its Board of Directors as part of its continuing charter to transform healthcare into systems that are team based, coordinated and accountable to patients.

"Physician groups in California are driven to transform the way patients experience the healthcare system," said Donald H. Crane, president and CEO of CAPG. "Federal Health reform was built on the delivery model originated by California physician groups and our current strategic plan is laser-focused on ensuring continued evolution of healthcare toward better coordination of care and better accountability for how dollars are spent."

"Patients expect and deserve seamless, high-quality and high-value care. Our newest board members have demonstrated a passion to help achieve this goal on behalf of the patients they care for and the communities they serve," said Crane.

The new board members include:

• AltaMed Health Services Corporation (Los Angeles) - Castulo de la Rocha, president and CEO; Martin Serota, M.D., chief medical officer
• Catholic Health Initiatives (Englewood, CO) - Stephen V. Spare, M.D., president and chief medical officer of Franciscan Medical Group; James Slaggert, vice president of Physician Practice Management
• Empire Physicians Medical Group (Palm Desert) - Steven Dorfman, M.D., president; Yvonne Sonnenberg, executive director
• Physicians Medical Group of Santa Cruz County (Santa Cruz) - Marvin Labrie, CEO; Nancy Greenstreet, M.D., medical director
• Santa Clara County IPA (SCCIPA) (Foster City) - J. Kersten Kraft, M.D., board president; Randall Frakes, CEO
• Scripps Coastal Medical Center (Carlsbad) - Louis Hogrefe, M.D., chief medical officer; Tracy Chu, assistant vice president of operations
