CM opens MIC at Arfa Technology Park
(Flare (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the future of the country is linked with information technology and it can be strengthened economically by promoting IT, equipping the young generation with modern knowledge.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of first ‘Microsoft Innovation Centre’ set up in Punjab in collaboration with Microsoft and Punjab government at Arfa Karim Software Technology Park. Vice Chairman of Microsoft for Middle East and Africa Ali Faramawi, General Manager Syed Hasheesh, PML leader and Microsoft Country Director Kamal Ahmed, Punjab Information Technology Board Chairman Dr Umer Saif, parents of Arfa Karim and male and female students attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that Punjab government was vigorously pursuing a comprehensive strategy for the promotion of information technology with the cooperation of international company Microsoft. He said that the expenses being incurred on equipping new generation with information technology were a beneficial investment for the future. He said the goal of development and prosperity of Pakistan could be achieved through promotion of modern knowledge.
He said that the establishment of the innovation centre in collaboration with Microsoft and Punjab government was a welcoming step which would not only help promote information technology but also enhance IT activities in the province. He said Microsoft company was an important partner of Punjab government. He said, “We have to further enhance these relations for the promotion of IT.” The chief minister said that those targets would be achieved in IT sector with the cooperation of Microsoft which were ignored in the past.
