ACCA USA and Pace University to Convene Cybercrime Symposium
NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--
ACCA
USA, the US arm of The Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants, today announced it will hold a cybercrime symposium and
panel discussion on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at New York's Pace
University. The event, "Cybercrime in the World Today 2013," is being
offered free of charge.
The event will include a networking breakfast reception followed by a
panel discussion of subject matter experts. Results of original skimmer
fraud research will be previewed, along with results of a global
cybercrime survey of some 2000 financial professionals.
"Every one of us has had second thoughts about using our credit cards
for Internet purchases or our debit cards at ATMs, and most of us know
someone who has been a victim of one form of cybercrime or another,"
said Warner Johnston, Head of ACCA USA. "Our convening of this free
symposium and sponsorship of the skimmer fraud research is part of
ACCA's commitment to providing new bodies of knowledge on myriad topics
helpful to businesses across the globe."
ACCA has commissioned Pace University to conduct original research in
the specialized area of skimmer fraud in order to provide business
leaders and law enforcement officials with a clearer understanding of
the technologies, methods and origins behind this widespread form of
cybercrime. Some of the world's largest accounting firms, banks and
credit card companies, as well as law enforcement organizations in the
US and Europe, are working with Pace University's researchers to provide
insight and data.
To help debate the causes of and solutions for combatting skimmer fraud,
ACCA USA has assembled a distinguished panel of experts:
-
Kelly Bissell - Principal, Deloitte (News - Alert) & Touche LLP
-
Helen Brand - ACCA CEO
-
Dr. Darren Hayes - Computer Information Systems Chair/Assistant
Professor at Pace University
