Feb 08, 2013 (The Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A Shelby do-it-yourself art studio is helping to fight hunger among children.
The Blizzard for Backpacks program from 1-3 p.m. today at the 113 N. Lafayette St. studio will allow people to paint a free snowflake with each food item donation.
Participants can also get $1 off a creation and Art Blooms will donate $1 to the backpack program.
Non-perishable items can be donated, such as Pop Tarts, granola bars, fruit cups, crackers, applesauce, pop-top single serving pasta, macaroni and cheese, soup, single serving cereal boxes and peanut butter
For more information, contact Art Blooms at 704-434-2555.
