Rossman, Baumberger, Reboso, Spier & Connolly First to Settle On Behalf of First Victim to File in Fatal Dec. 1 MIA Bus Crash
MIAMI --(Business Wire)--
Just two months after the deadly Dec. 1 bus crash at Miami International
Airport, the Miami trial law firm Rossman,
Baumberger, Spier & Connolly has settled the first suit filed by
a victim.
The plaintiff, Miram Lorenza Machado, was the first to file suit Dec. 7
against Miami Bus Service Corporation and the bus service's driver. She
sustained multiple spinal fractures, rib fractures, a ruptured spleen
and facial cuts and bruises.
She was among 32 mostly elderly Miami Jehovah's Witnesses on board a bus
to a convention in West Palm Beach. The driver got lost and wound up at
Miami International Airport, where the 11-foot-high bus smashed into a
concrete overpass, killing two and sending 13 to the Ryder Trauma Center.
Rossman said the settlement amount, while confidential, should go a long
way toward providing for her medical needs and dignity for years go come.
"The most important thing is that the settlement provides he with funds
for long-term medical care, and will help bring her peace of mind and an
improved quality of life," said Machado's attorney, Steve
Rossman, co-founding partner of Rossman,
Baumberger, Reboso, Spier & Connolly. "We knew that with so many
claims and a limited insurance pool, it was important to get our clients
significant help and relief without delay and thereby give them the most
favorable outcome under the circumstances."

Judicial Circuit, Case No. 12-47452 CA (News - Alert) 13)
