Watchdog dysfunctional marring telecom quality

(Nation (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Hasan Jawwad - The disturbance in apparently dysfunctional telecom watchdog has caused poor quality of services on the network of mobile phone operators as customers continued to suffer problems in connectivity and communication.


Customers of Norwegian telecom operator complained that they have been facing a persistent problem in making calls and SMS due to technical issues on their network. They said that call drop, delayed SMS and weak signals have witnessed in the services of their telecom operator that cost lost of their balance, daily routine communication and commercials talks due to frequent network failure.

Asad Ahmed, a student and resident of Karachi said that he had been facing sever issues of network as the signals of the network continued made disappearance on and off, making difficult for him to receive or make any call in his living area.

According to him, he got a SMS from the company in which the operator informed him for disruption of the communication due to maintenance work for two days. However, the problem continues for many days and customers of the specific areas got suffered due to poor quality of the service. The poor signals cut my calls many times which translate into waste of balance, on the other hand, SMS failed to reach on time, Ahmed added.

The services of the Norwegian operator are not only disturbed in Karachi having millions of customers but the situation of poor services is being reported in different cities due to quality of services. All official communication carried out through internet have slowed down for last couple of days causing loss of work and importance dealings, a mobile phone user said. I am a committed postpaid customer but very upset due to services of mobile phone company which has not been properly restored despite of many complaints made.

Official sources of Norway-based telecom operator said that the upgradation work is being continued on the network that is making interruption of services in big cities. He added that company is swapping physical infrastructure from European based technology to Chinese-made system which is making prolong delays due to lots of work.

Mostly the advancement and physical changes are executed in the night hours on the network but bad weather stopped for many hours and shifted technical works on sites in day hours, he said on the condition of anonymity. He said that cold weather may cause more delays in the network swap that will continue the outage or interruption of services in coming days.
