St. Louis Post-Dispatch Building Blocks column
Feb 12, 2013 (St. Louis Post-Dispatch - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis plans to open a second ReStore, which sells recycled doors, windows, plumbing and lots of other building stuff.
The new ReStore is scheduled to open in June at 2117 Sams Drive in Des Peres. Habitat for Humanity plans to keep its existing store at 3763 Forest Park Avenue in the city.
ReStore sales are meant to help Habitat for Humanity while providing the public low-cost building materials. Much of the product line--most of it donated--comes from "deconstructed" buildings.
In addition, the ReStore offers a "deconstruction service" for homeowners and businesses planning a major building remodeling or demolition.
Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis is a non-profit, ecumenical housing ministry that works with individuals and communities to provide affordable housing. Each buyer puts 350 hours of "sweat equity" into his or her home and other projects.
