New Survey Findings Offer Big Insight into Small Membership Organizations
(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Toronto, Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) February 15, 2013
Does size matter when it comes to membership organizations That was the central question behind Toronto-based software company Wild Apricot's Small Membership Insight Survey (conducted in late 2012) - the findings of which are currently being released.
"Since it's our company's goal is to help small associations and non-profits build websites, connect with supporters, grow and manage their membership, we wanted to gain more insight into their world" explains Jay Moonah, Wild Apricot's Noisy Apricot (VP Marketing). And the survey findings didn't disappoint - offering a wealth of data provided by 559 participants from small organizations, the majority of which were from the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia.
The findings offer benchmarking information that can help small organizations see where their group fits within their universe. In addition to the survey questions and answers, participants generously offered their membership peers additional insight and ideas, such as potential new revenue streams and innovative programs.
Here are some key highlights of the survey findings:
A typical small membership organization has fewer than 500 members
The majority of small membership organizations surveyd are volunteer-led
Most small membership organizations have only 1 full or part-time staff
The majority of small membership organizations have non-profit status
How small is small - the survey suggests a typical annual budget is less than $50,000
Does size matter 50% of small organizations are meeting their mission at their current size.
The top 3 priorites for small membership organizations are:
1. Increasing membership
2. Increasing member engagement
3. Demonstrating member value
Dmitry Buterin, Wild Apricot's CEO, suggests "this is the premiere edition of this survey which we believe offers a baseline of knowledge upon which we can build in subsequent years."
The final report from the findings of the Small Membership Insight Survey Report is available upon registration.
In addition, Wild Apricot has published an article with key survey highlights:BIG Insight Into Small Membership Organizations - Survey Highlights.
