Telstra to lift restrictions on 'AFL live'
Feb 18, 2013 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
Following a similar decision on National Rugby League matches, Telstra will now also make its online coverage of the Australian Football League (AFL) available to subscribers of rival mobile telephone networks. The telco had previously insisted on an exclusivity deal to lock out Singtel Optus and Vodafone, and took High Court action over it. However it abandoned that stance in its deal with the Australian Rugby League Commission. The AFL move will likely assuage concerns of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission. Telstra is boosting its focus on content provision in general.
