Science Comedian, Brian Malow, to Open Bioscience Awards Night
PROVIDENCE, R.I. --(Business Wire)--
"Earth's Premier Science Comedian (self-proclaimed)," Brian
Malow, will open Tech
Collective's Rhode Island Bioscience Awards celebration event on
Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Rhodes on the
Pawtuxet in Cranston.
Malow's combination of wit, humor, and science - ranging from space to
atoms, from pop-culture to the truly genius - has won acclaim from NASA,
the National Association of Science Writers, Apple (News - Alert), Time Magazine, and
many more. His current work includes science communications at the North
Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, Scientific
American's "But Seriously…" blog, and appearances on the Weather
Channel, through which he will appear in its "Hacking
the Planet" series premiering later this month.
At the Rhode Island Bioscience Awards, Malow's audience will be
innovators and culture changers working across the state's medical
device, research and development, pharmaceutical, and additionally
related bioscience sectors.
"What a perfect event for my first-ever performance in Rhode Island!"
said Malow. "I look forward to meeting, learning more about, and, of
course, laughing with, Rhode Island's bioscience professionals. Thank
you for letting me be a part of your awards celebration!"
"The Rhode Island Bioscience Awards ceremony is a celebration of our
industry's accomplishments - what better way to do so than to amp up the
energy in the room and have everyone laughing " said Melissa Punchak,
manager of organizational programs for Tech Collective. "We are
extremely excited to welcome Brian to Rhode Island for his first time
and to introduce him to our state's top bioscience leaders and
professionals!"
The first of its kind in Rhode Island, this industry-specific awards
program is designed to honor individuals working within the state's
bioscience sectors. Professionals working in medical device, research
and development, pharmaceuticals, laboratories, production, design, and
related areas are encouraged to participate.
Award winners will be announced in mid-February. For more information,
