Eric Craig is increasing Scality’s (News - Alert) momentum in the global market.

Scality is the developer of RING, an application centric cloud storage system, which enables cloud storage to easily scale up to exabytes using commodity server hardware with direct attached storage.

Craig has joined the cloud storage system pioneer as the North American sales director and will aid the company to deliver a next-generation, cloud-scale storage infrastructure.

“I have a deep appreciation for the next-generation, cloud-scale storage infrastructure innovations that Scality is delivering,” Craig said in a statement. “It is exciting to be a team member of an organization with an extremely promising future. My focus will be on growing Scality’s business across North America and making sure our customers receive the support and services they deserve.”

Known for his consistent high achievement in the sales of IT services, software and integrated solutions, Craig most recently served as vice president of sales for SunGard Availability Services. This $1.5 billion enterprise software company specializes in providing cloud security and disaster recovery.

In his role as vice president of sales at SunGard, Craig developed a highly productive channel and reseller network, according to company officials.

“I am thrilled by this new addition to the team,” said Jérôme Lecat, CEO of Scality, in a statement. “Eric’s reputation for strong and excellent work preceded him. Eric exemplifies the kind of people I like to see at Scality.”

Craig has also worked for Current Analysis where he successfully delivered six straight quarters of growth. He also led the building of a new sales organization for Cable & Wireless (News - Alert)/SAVVIS.

In related news, Cirtas, a cloud storage leader, argues that those looking to simplify their storage management should consider cloud storage as it provides economic and practical benefits.

Cirtas, a 2010 Red Herring (News - Alert) Top 100 North America Company, aims to make cloud storage work like on–site storage arrays. To deliver robust cloud storage solutions, Cirtas recently launched the Bluejet 500, the world’s first cloud-enabled data storage system.

According to Cirtas (News - Alert), not only is it important to make using cloud storage easy, but with Bluejet’s Cloud Storage Controller technology, it “unlocks capabilities.”
