IceWEB (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of Unified Data Storage and building blocks for cloud storage networks, has received a contract for secure unified storage systems for an agency inside the Department of Defense.

Officials with IceWEB said that the storage systems will be deployed by VideoBank, an IceWEB premier federal partner, and will be used to manage video, audio, still imagery, documents and an abundance of ancillary digital content.  

VideoBank's proprietary Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems continue to gain widespread acceptance throughout the government as the need to store, secure and manage massive amounts of data is growing exponentially.

"By utilizing IceWEB's unique unified approach to storing and managing both structured and unstructured data on a 128 bit file system, VideoBank customers are able to optimize DAM systems to empower organizations to manage video, audio, still imagery, documents and other digital content all through one common interface,” said Tim McNamee, vice president of Federal Channels, in a statement.

McNamee said that IceWEB's Unified Storage Systems provide VideoBank's DAM customers with the storage and data management facilities required to handle extremely large amounts of digital data.

He said that DAM products can ingest, log, index, archive, display and distribute any type of digital file; making them ideal for large government and corporate archives with complex workflow requirements.

"With the 600HC now shipping, we can deliver 1.8 Petabytes in a single secure data center rack.  This is an, efficient and cost effective solution for the Federal Government.  The complete IceWEB product line is available on Promark Technology's GSA (News - Alert) schedule," said McNamee.

Back in June, IceWEB had announced that it received an order from Promark Technology, via one of its newest Channel Partners for an IceWEB 3000HP (High Performance) Unified Storage Platform.

The system is being deployed in a new VMware installation. IceWEB's Storage Platform OS Manager includes an API (Application Programming Interface) to VMware's Vstorage virtualization technology, which provides seamless integration between IceWEB and VMware.
