Three data centers which have been deployed by the Federal Government to help support the setting up of cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), will employ the Unified Data Storage platform from IceWEB (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of Unified Data Storage platform and experts in cloud storage networks offerings.

In a release, Tim McNamee IceWEB Federal Channel Manager said that "IceWEB Unified Storage Systems are ideal for GSA's (News - Alert) cloud-based service storefront. Federal, state and local governments as well as tribal governments will now be provided with cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) under the new initiative pursued by the U.S. Government's General Services Administration (GSA). The Unified Storage Systems from IceWEB to be employed at the three data centers will help in providing the different government agencies with cloud storage services.

Dave McClure, GSA Associate Administrator of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies said that "Through offerings such as IaaS, GSA is providing governments with easy access to cost-saving, high-value, more efficient technology solutions by doing a major part of the procurement process up front."

IceWEB's Unified Storage Platforms have been made available through the company's primary distributor Promark Technology while its GSA Schedule provides the complete IceWEB product line.
