Allowing for multiple performance tiers of storage in a single platform, IceWEB (News
- Alert) has announced that it will soon release an innovative, high-end IceWEB storage platform.
From a capacity tier, cloud service providers can provision database and virtual machines from the performance tier and backup services. Also, to create a hybrid storage pool, IceWEB customers can apply solid-state disk drive to the performance tier and all this is a part of the company’s focus on high-performance, unified cloud storage systems. International Data Corporation (IDC (News - Alert)) estimates that in 2010, the networked storage market rose to $17.55 billion. According to a report in Forbes Magazine, 8-22-11, a growing segment of that market is at the high-end as new business information increases 50 percent every year.
“The recent announcements of our IceWEB 6000-HA (High Availability) and 6000-HB (Hybrid) Unified Storage Platforms are major steps to meet the emerging needs of these high-performance cloud-driven customers,” said John R. Signorello, IceWEB CEO. “And, our recent solid state drive announcements, hybrid array technology and new expansion disk shelves are all part of our master plan to increase share in this fast growing high performance market.”
There is opportunity for everyone with this dramatic increase in data. Demand for unified storage systems continues to increase, on the supply side. To help companies make better decisions, identify business trends, and discover new customer preferences, businesses now have high-speed data access on the consumer side, the company stated in a press release.
Recently, it was announced that three data centers which have been deployed by the Federal Government to help support the setting up of cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), will employ the Unified Data Storage platform from IceWEB. Federal, state and local governments as well as tribal governments will now be provided with cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) under the new initiative pursued by the U.S. Government's General Services Administration (GSA (News - Alert)).
