Things are looking good for cloud storage company Gladinet (News - Alert) as its cloud storage access platform has an install base of more than a million users.

Rolling with this good news and in response to customer requests, Gladinet is now introducing Gladinet Cloud for Team, a service that provides unified, managed access to cloud and on-premise storage.

"Most customers will still use local storage during the cloud storage migration,” Jerry Huang (News - Alert) who is the CEO of Gladinet said. “In fact, many will continue to use local storage after the migration is complete. Unification is therefore a key differentiator that allows some data to be kept on-premise for compliance, control, or security reasons, while moving the rest to the cloud for maximum efficiency."

According to Huang, irrespective of the storage location, the access and management models remain the same. All data is provided with immediate, cloud-based access. Moreover, users do not have to wait for lengthy uploads to complete.

The practical pains of migration are therefore eased with the unified approach taken up by the company. Migrating large data sets to the cloud with limited bandwidths can create problems for businesses. Huang added that data can be now accessed immediately with Gladinet Cloud. Cloud migration and cloud backup will be also completed in the background.

The main feature of the new service, which is optimized for teams, is its central management of cloud and on-premise storage. Other primary features include shared workspace creation with access controls. Cloud and on-premise storage can be also accessed from any location or device with the new service.

Huang said, "Gladinet Cloud is tightly integrated with Gladinet's existing cloud storage access platform to produce a complete, mature solution."
