A recent product review from VoIP Planet details the impressive functionality of Fonality’s (News - Alert) Connect for cloud telephony solutions. As an all-inclusive hosted IP PBX service, Connect bundles several VoIP services together including unlimited calling, advanced call forwarding, web-based management, and personalized greetings for each extension.
VoIP Planet tested five extensions, “two equipped with Polycom SoundPoint IP 331 IP phones, three with a Fonality-branded audio-only version of CounterPath’s (News - Alert) EyeBeam softphone coupled with Altec Lansing’s AHS201i computer-telephone headsets,” according to Gerry Blackwell for the company. Blackwell noted that the set up was fairly simple as the software as the phones “logged in to the Fonality system automatically on connection. Initial boot-up took a few minutes.”
After the technical set-ups required, the testers were thoroughly pleased with the call reporting quality. Blackwell cited an instance of “superior” call reporting quality “when one tester, in the U.K., was using a softphone with her laptop’s built-in speakers and microphone.”
While testing conference bridge service and ad hoc conferencing, the testers found that in-house participants could just dial into an extension to gain access to the conference. Over both services, there was “little if any break-up when participants talked over each other.”
Overall, VoIP Planet recommends the IP PBX (News - Alert) system to any small- or medium-sized business. With high-speed connections, very clear call quality, and ease of integration, the service gets a top quality review!
