After an Explosive, Successful Year for Datapipe, 'Anything Could Happen' in 2013

By Allison Boccamazzo, TMCnet Web Editor

2012 treated cloud computing, security and IT services provider Datapipe (News - Alert) very well. So well, that in a time of economic rigidity where business acquisitions and attritions were happening almost as frequently as you heard “Gangnam Style” on the radio, the company thrived all the more, racking up an impressive collection of honors, awards and exciting new partnerships. 2012 was truly a sterling year for the company, and so it only seems appropriate to report on some of this year’s top highlights.

This year in October, Datapipe was named to Business Insider’s Digital 100 Chart for the third consecutive year, having steadily climbed the list from No. 70 in 2010 to No. 14 this year. According to Business Insider, who has been ranking the world’s most valuable digital startups for the last five years, the rankings were based on several metrics, including revenue, users, market opportunities, growth rates and the perception of investors and tech gurus.

Also this year, Datapipe was honored with the 2012 Cloud Computing Excellence Award for its renowned Stratosphere Managed Cloud Computing Platform, which is designed to cater enterprise requirements for governance, usability, compliance and interoperability.  The highly-coveted award, which is sponsored by TMC’s (News - Alert) Cloud Computing Magazine, recognizes companies that most effectively leverage cloud computing to bring to light new, unique and unprecedented market offerings.

Even more, the company also this year secured eighth place on Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Top 20 Tech & Telecom list of the largest green power users, as it annually makes us of more than 74 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power, which has the ability to meet 100 percent of the organization’s electricity use. This ranking surely reflects Datapipe’s undeterred commitment to safeguard the environment by improving its existing partnership with EPA’s Green Power Partnership.

One of the most unfortunate and tragic events to rock 2012 came in the form of Hurricane Sandy, which caused billions of dollars of lost revenue for affected businesses across the East Coast. Datapipe, who has a major datacenter in Jersey City, New Jersey, one of the most damaged states from the incident, was still listed as the most reliable hosting company in October by Netcraft, which measures and makes available the response times of around 40 leading hosting providers’ sites.

What’s more, despite being situated in areas close to where analysts predicted a 100 percent probability of a storm surge higher than six feet, Datapipe remained determined to withstand Sandy’s power by going the extra mile – and its hard work certainly showed in this prestigious title.

Last month, the company also partnered with Newvem, a provider of cloud analytics for Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) (AWS) customers. AWS offers highly reliable, next-generation computing and hosting services that power thousands of businesses, and with the addition of this new partnership, new insight about organizations’ cloud operations, as well as enables CEOs, CIOs and CTOs to more clearly understand the full scope of their managed cloud services.

Continuing this momentum, Datapipe was also this month named an AWS Premier Consulting Partner, which further solidified its position as a top contender in the cloud hosting space.

Rounding out the year, Datapipe revealed a new partnership this month with New Relic, an all-in-one Web application performance tool, to help better offer Datapipe clients with real-time Web application performance monitoring via the New Relic Standard edition free of charge. Looking to 2013, another 2012 major musical hit by chart-topping artist Ellie Goulding comes to mind called “Anything Could Happen,” whose title perfectly represents Datapipe’s promising New Year full of potential and new opportunities. After achieving so much in just one year, anything could truly happen for this talented and capable contender, and we can’t wait to see!
