The 6WINDGate packet processing software is now available for the LSI Axxia Communication Processor (News - Alert) family, which can deliver the deterministic, reliable performance and low power consumption required by data-intensive mobile, cloud and enterprise networks.
Alliance between LSI and 6WIND provides network OEMs with a pre-integrated solution for accelerating networking functions while reducing product development costs and speeding time-to-market.
Axxia customers can leverage the 6WINDGate packet processing software to benefit from a range of optimized data plane protocols and a complete set of control plane modules.
The companies note that the pre-integrated solution enables OEMs to customize their own hardware platforms in a more efficient and rapid manner.
The pre-integrated solution also allows easy migration to the Axxia platform for OEMs that already use the 6WINDGate software. It also simplifies system creation and deployment for OEMs.
“This solution will benefit OEMs by maximizing system performance, accelerating their time-to-market and enabling them to focus their internal teams on proprietary, value-added features,” said Joseph Byrne, senior analyst, The Linley Group.
6WINDGate supports LSI Axxia reference designs to help OEMs meet accelerated time-to-market goals. OEMs can now rapidly develop and prototype systems.
"Because it addresses critical issues in network bandwidth, scalability and Quality of Service, 6WINDGate has been adopted by multiple leading telecom equipment manufacturers and is now deployed in a large number of commercial LTE (News - Alert) networks worldwide,” said Eric Carmes, CEO of 6WIND.
The 6WINDGate Cloud Edition solution extends these benefits to datacenter networking applications.”
LSI was recently in news for announcing that it will host a webcast on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, to discuss its financial results for the third quarter of 2012.
