Data Center Power is a key focus for a number of companies right now as the drive for energy efficiency gains speed. At the same time, organizations running their own data centers are searching for ways to reduce costs, and a reduction in the amount of power necessary to run standard systems remain a primary demand.
In this latest video from Server Technology, taken at Cisco Live!, Brandon Ewing, president of Server Technology (News - Alert), introduced the latest Cisco switches that require 60 amp and above support for their new Nexus 7000 and 7010 switches for vertical power distribution products for the data center. These switches are designed to support efficient power distribution throughout the entire data center, enabling organizations to meet their data center power goals.
Data center switches are designed to enable full control of network access to remote sites and data center equipment as a result of IP-based remote power management. IT professionals can reboot servers and network gear individually or as a selected group, depending upon the enterprise needs at the time.
Server Technology focuses on smart PDU products to drive reliable data center power distribution as well as local and remote power environmental monitoring. The network interface can be used to view power, temperature and humidity levels through the Web browser. The system can also be configured to send SNMP-based alarms when conditions exceed thresholds previously determined.
According to Ewing, Server Technology has developed a number of new solutions that aim to help data center design engineers, application engineers and data center managers power Cisco’s (News - Alert) UCS. New products on display at the show have been uniquely designed for data center environments, offering high-density blade servers, such as a new CDU for Cisco’s Nexus 7000 chassis.
In a recent release, Ewing explained: “Data centers today want to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and increase their business agility. We have the power management solutions to power Cisco's next-generation UCS data center platform.”
A recognized leader in innovative remote power management solutions, Server Technology designs and manufactures products for the enterprise that will reduce downtime and improve data center power management. Available products include intelligent Cabinet Power Distribution Units to provide power management through branch circuit protection, IP, input current power monitoring, serial console port access and environmental monitoring.Susan J.
