In addition to boasting a comprehensive solution for data center power management, guaranteeing 100 percent product performance testing and offering custom cabinet power distribution units (CDUs), data center power distribution company Server Technology (News - Alert) wants to spread the word that certain key -48V products are also Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) certified.
NEBS is a set of technical requirements that are aimed at making network switches bulletproof. The standard was initially developed internally at Bell Labs (News - Alert). Products that are NEBS certified meet clearly indentified standards with regards to temperature and humidity, resistance to fire, equipment handling, earthquake survivability, airborne contaminants and vibration.
“NEBS was designed to make telecommunications network switches bulletproof through a certain set of technical requirements,” Julie Brown, Server Technology’s marketing manager, told TMCnet. “By us being ‘NEBS certified,’ our -48V power distribution units that carry this distinction have to be just as bulletproof. NEBS certification has always been important to us; we know it’s a requirement for our customers. Other manufacturers may say that they are ‘NEBS compliant but the true certification-NEBS certified - is different and brings our products to a higher performance level.”
Server Technology’s bulletproof NEBS certified product line for telecommunication industry provides remote data center power management for network switches, according to company officials.
One product line that is NEBS certified is the -48 Switched 2x100A input / 4x70A Outputs. The Sentry 48DCWB-04-2X100-DONB Remote Power Manager & Power Distribution Unit minimizes the impact of locked-up routers, DSLAMs, ATM switches and other high amperage equipment units on service provider's networks, according to company officials.
Everyone from CLECs to ILECs to ISPs turn to the Sentry 48DCWB-04-2X100-DONB to manage equipment in remote sites, colocation facilities and telco central offices. One of the main benefits of the Sentry 48DCWB-04-2X100-DONB is that it eliminates the need to dispatch a field service technician for manual intervention when devices lock-up. By deploying a Sentry 48DCWB-04-2X100-DONB, the network operations center can quickly restart locked-up remote internetworking devices to ensure that the network maintains maximum uptime.
“Certain customers require NEBS certification and they should have the peace of mind that when they choose one of our -48V switched POPS units, they’re getting the unique technology they want with the certification they’re looking for,” Brown said.
Another Server Technology NEBS certified product is the -48V Switched 4x70A input / 4x70A Outputs. The Sentry 48 VDC provides immediate operational cost savings, including: reduced field service visits; improved problem/solution response time; improved network availability; and improved facility security.
