The ABB Decathlon Data Center Enterprise Management (DCEM) suite is about to get a boost from ABB. The company announced its plans to embed nlyte Software’s Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) suite.
According to a recent DatacenterDynamics report, Decathlon products are used to manage data center power consumption across multiple sites. The addition of the nlyte suite will extend capacity planning, as well as business process automation.
“ABB is taking the approach of integrating best-in-class software by combining their real time power and control with nlyte Software’s move/add/change management and what-if capacity planning,” Andy Lawrence, research director at The 451 Group (News - Alert), told DatacenterDynamics. “Together they deliver a full set of capabilities for enterprise-class data centre management.”
In combining the systems to improve the efficiency in data center power consumption, added functions such as unified facilities and energy management are enabled. Companies will also enjoy improved reliability through condition-based maintenance. This approach will ensure service is recommended for equipment not working to full potential and data analysis of IT load patterns.
Todd Goldman, vice president of product management of nlyte Software, shared that the company is thrilled that ABB is including nlyte in its Decathlon data center power suite. The combined solution will meet the needs of data center professionals, operating in a heterogeneous world. ABB understands the value of the best-of-breed approach to ensure customers can optimize efficiency in the data center.
Mike Heatherman, ABB group vice president, process automation control technologies, Americas, went on to stress that ABB customers are made up of some of the largest mission critical facilities in the world. With access to the nlyte DCIM suite to address data center power consumption, these companies will have access to industry best practices to optimize their use of power, space and cooling with the optimal placements of assets within the data center.
As the focus on data center power consumption continues to intensify within the enterprise, data center managers and CTOs are searching for proven methods of efficiency and improvement to demonstrate proactive movements toward efficiency. Server Technology (News - Alert) serves the need in this market, offering data center power distribution services to companies throughout the world.
Server Technology offers a full line of intelligent cabinet power distribution units (CDUs), or PDUs. The company was recently selected by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) to deliver PDUs and power monitoring and management software for the agency’s Washington Operations Division lab testing facilities.
In the market today, data is business intelligence. With the growing demand for business intelligence and cloud-based applications, the strain on the data center will only intensify. This strain is creating opportunity for companies like Server Technology to deliver the solutions necessary to support the growing trend.
