2012 has been nothing short of exciting for Server Technology (News - Alert) – a provider of data center power distribution units – as the company has been brimming with news from the unveiling of its Sentry Power System to announcing that the US Department of Defense (DOD) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) has tapped it to provide data center power distribution units (PDUs) and power monitoring and management software.
And this week, Server Technology is excited to spread the word to others in the industry about some of its recent accomplishments, especially its Sentry Power System, at Data Center World.
“Just this week, we’ve launched Sentry Power System, the integrated solution of our world class intelligent PDUs and our Sentry Power Manager software,” Julie Brown, marketing manager at Server Technology, told TMCnet. “Data center managers now have a comprehensive system of power to globally manage hundreds or thousands of PDUs – from a simple, user-friendly dashboard. And, any new PDUs that they add – they can just plug the PDU into the network and immediately our Sentry Power System will auto discover and auto configure the unit. The customer can start receiving power and environmental information, trending and reports right away. Sentry Power System provides immediate value.”
Data Center World, taking place March 19-22 in Las Vegas, Nev., brings together data center and facilities management professionals to discuss all that’s hot in the data center space. Server Technology has been participating in AFCOM’s Data Center World for several years and this year is no exception, according to company officials.
This week, Server Technology will join hundreds of other companies at the five-day event which will offer lectures, speakers and special presentations.
“The AFCOM organization and the attendees of Data Center World – are exactly the people we need to interact with and why we exhibit at this show every year – data center and facilities professionals,” Brown said. “We definitely want to continue to spread the word with AFCOM attendees about the benefits and value that our power distribution products and power management software bring to the data center – reduced downtime, energy efficiency, improved ROI and the power monitoring and measurement capabilities that they need to set metrics and achieve green initiatives.”
Over the past few months, Server Technology has been attending several trade shows and one message that is resonating loud and clear on the expo floors is that big data is here to stay. As a company that has been in the industry for the past 25 years, Server Technology has been an active participant in the big data conversation, particularly about what it means for today and the future.
Moreover, other discussions on the expo floors have centered upon everyone touting their companies for offering DCIM solutions. However, according to Server Technology, this message is “pretty confusing since over 200 companies today offer some sort of DCIM.”
Aside from the big data and DCIM debates though, one issue is perhaps still very much on the mind of data center managers – how to reduce data center power consumption and better monitor the data center.
“There’s certainly more and more pressure on companies to control costs related to energy efficiency,” Brown said. “Data centers and IT in general are targeted as areas that use ‘more than their fair share’ of power and related expenses and are being directed to manage much more as a true business unit. Our Sentry CDUs and Sentry Power Manager provide the tools that provide the right information that data center professionals need to make key business decisions – whether that’s through our new Sentry Power System, or as complimentary to a company’s DCIM or BMS system.”
