Summer time is almost here and you know what that means –new sandals, tote bags, bathing suits and wraps to ring in the season. And for Server Technology (News - Alert), the onset of summer has served as a catalyst for the company to embark on a mini makeover as this month the company unveiled its newly designed website – a site that company officials say reflects the modern, world-class nature of the data center power distribution company.
“We’ve been working on modifying and changing the website for about two years now,” Jenny Petty, integrated marketing specialist at Server Technology, told TMCnet. “We started out just kind of re-skinning the site – giving the site a new look – and then we delved into the architecture and tried to determine how we can reach two audiences – the people who are brand new to this who don’t know anything about data center power and the seasoned hands who know exactly what they are looking for.”
“We did a lot of research into the best way to redesign the new site as far as the architecture and the content that people were looking for and we completely changed up the look of the site to have it look more modern,” she added.
In case you haven’t visited the data center power distribution company’s website in awhile, now might be a good time. A visit to the site will show you a revamped webpage that boasts the most current Server Technology news, a company blog, content for everyone from the newbie to the data center power space to the seasoned professional and a variety of social media outlets.
Perhaps one of the biggest changes on the website, however, is an orange tab that resides on the left hand side of each page that reads “Product Selector.” Once you select the tab you are brought to a list of all Server Technology products where you can search by voltage, current, phase, plug type, kW Available, CDU type, physical design, and outlet count, among other things. And for a company with thousands of data center power distribution units, this tool was a long time coming Server Technology.
“We did a lot studies as we developed this and interviewed our own sales team, sales reps, customers, and resellers to try and get their input on how do we make this easier, what do we need to tell you, what do you need from our site, and what are we not doing today that we need to do to help you understand our products, sell them better and buy them better,” Julie Brown, marketing manager at Server Technology, told TMCnet. “The Product Selector that you can get off of every page of our site was huge. That was what people wanted more than anything because with 2,000 products it’s really hard for people to narrow down the choices”
“It’s like a kid in the candy store,” she added. “They come to our site and are overwhelmed by the sheer number of products and choices they have. It’s really helping our inside team as well as our customers and our resellers on how to find the right products for their needs.”
Moreover, the new website also boasts a popular products section in which you can sift through the most popular data center power distribution companies that company sells – a section that will be updated as those units change. When you find the product that you like, there is – for the first time ever – a “Buy” tab which takes you to a page to fill out your information. Once the information is inputted, a sales rep will contact the customer immediately with pricing and information.
In addition to the “Buy” tab and Product Selector, the site also now features a page dedicated to Server Technology’s newly unveiled Solutions Partner Program, which is designed to promote the integration of Server Technology’s advanced hardware and software technology with that of other industry leaders.
“The program is about aligning ourselves with integrated partners who have already proven that they integrate with our products and solutions,” Brown said. “Through that whole program, we are giving our customers a 100 percent guarantee that our products work and integrate with those solutions partners.”
So what overarching message does Server Technology hope that site visitors take away from the new webpage?
“I hope they take away from it that the company is professional and robust,” Petty said. “We are a mature, world-class company. We are accessible; we make it easy to find whatever you are looking for or to get the help you need. We want people to feel like they can find the answers – whether its calling us or searching through our products or jumping on the live help chat.”
