While many families and individuals might be gearing up to travel overseas this summer – for anticipated family vacations, summer abroad programs and backpacking trips – Server Technology (News - Alert) will head to Europe for an entirely different reason: to lead an IT infrastructure energy efficiency workshop series entitled “Understanding DCIM: When is your Data Centre ready for DCIM.”
Joining nlyte Software and RF Code, the data center power distribution company will be leading workshops that are designed to give attendees a better understanding of the current state of Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and to help them determine how best to evaluate and choose a DCIM solution.
“DCIM is here to stay,” said Mark Harris, vice president of marketing for Server Technology. “It extends the role of IT and Facilities by enabling a comprehensive view of the entire IT infrastructure, above and below the raised floor. Previously, these two components were managed individually even though they shared a common goal. DCIM changes all of that. The idea that we can now look at all of the costs and processes associated with delivering a dynamic converged digital infrastructure is exciting.”
The series kicks off in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on June 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Regus Sloterdijk Station and then the companies head to London, England on June 28 for a session that runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and takes place at Regus City Point.
The half-day workshops cover: the strategic importance of DCIM; state of the art DCIM technologies; getting started in DCIM; and actionable DCIM through partnerships.
“Today’s data centres are more complex than ever before and it’s no longer enough to manage multi-million budget facilities using outdated, legacy spreadsheets,” said Marina Stedman, international marketing director for nlyte Software. “DCIM solutions have become a requirement for effective and efficient optimization of any data centre’s use of power, cooling and space. We are excited to be a part of this road show to help educate data centre users on the importance of DCIM.”
After seeing how successful three previous DCIM events were in the US, the companies have decided to take the workshop series overseas, according to Joan Osleeb, director of marketing for RF Code.
“Our international teams have asked us to bring them to Amsterdam and London to inform and advise our international customers because they are seeing the same thing internationally,” Osleeb said. “DCIM is a growing area of interest as space, cooling and power propel the need to better manage operating costs while increasing return on infrastructure investments.”
