Large or small, a data center requires a wide range of building blocks, brought together from a huge list of potential vendor options. Server Technology (News - Alert), a provider of data center power management and monitoring solutions, has been named to CRN’s 2013 Data Center 100 list for its intelligent cabinet PDUs. This is the second year the company has been named to the list, as it was also recognized for its intelligent cabinet PDUs for the 2012 list.
The company holds the largest number of patents in the industry. CRN’s 2013 Data Center 100 list highlights technology vendors that are powering, supporting and protecting today’s data center. From innovative database software to green data center technologies, to security and cloud data management services, this list covers it all. Selected by the CRN editorial staff after months of in-depth research, the 2013 Data Center 100 list recognizes vendors that have adopted new technologies and procedures over the course of 2012. To be considered for the 2012 Data Center 100 list, vendors on the list have recently offered products and/or services that have demonstrated an ability to increase data center efficiency, performance and ROI while reducing energy consumption, waste and cost.
Server Technology’s cabinet PDUs include basic, metered, smart and switched. The company offers hundreds of power distribution units, which are multiple outlet power strips designed to deliver conditioned power to mission-critical networking, server or telecom equipment.
The basic PDUs Server Technology offers provide reliable power distribution for all of the devices in the equipment cabinet, from 2kW-6kW per cabinet. Its metered PDUs have local LED input current monitoring and allow network engineers to utilize the PDUs’ True RMS Power Monitor to precisely measure the current (in amps) that network devices are drawing on the power circuit.
Its smart PDUs allow users to monitor power, temperature and humidity levels through any Web browser, and you can get simple network management protocol (SNMP) alerts or e-mail alerts when any of those things exceed thresholds you have previously assigned. The switched PDUs provide the capability to securely monitor and control cabinet power via network for a data center or remote branch.
Server Technology’s Smart Power Monitor adds even more intelligence and monitoring capabilities to these PDUs. “This product is the perfect solution for someone who is looking to add intelligent power monitoring to their data center cabinet, but don’t want to replace the existing cabinet PDUs,” said Brandon Siri, senior marketing representative, Server Technology.
