Server Technology (News - Alert) provides the highest quality rackmount power distribution and monitoring solutions that help manage power capacity, reduce downtime and improve energy efficiency. Its cabinet power distribution units (CDUs) define the exact location of its products - in the cabinet - as well as describing where its particular power expertise and engineering specialty lies - power management in the cabinet and to your servers. Server Technology offers a range of PDUs, from basic and metered to switched and smart. A PDU is a multiple outlet power strip designed to deliver conditioned power to mission-critical networking, server or telecom equipment and all of Server Technology’s hundreds of PDUs provide reliable power distribution to meet your data center power monitoring needs.
With its PDUs, users receive SNMP alerts when power or environmental conditions exceed thresholds. Users can also receive alerts with its Sentry Power Manager (SPM) its data center power monitoring and management solution, featuring predictive analysis and revamped trending capabilities to help you maximize your power efficiency.
The importance of uptime is emphasized with the holidays – with so many employees taking time off to spend time to celebrate the holidays, the last thing you want to deal with is data center downtime. With the holiday season in full swing and Christmas officially one week away, Server Technology’s Jack Vonich, director of sales, Western Region, got the data center industry excited for the holidays with a Christmas story, Server Technology style.
‘Twas the night before Christmas, in the office of IT,
Not a server was stirring, not even the HP,
The AC was running, the UPS was OK,
It looked like we are going to be enjoying Christmas day,
The rack mounted switches, let out clicks and snorts,
While volumes of Web traffic passed thru their ports,
Bob and his laptop, and I and my ‘scope,
It looked like we could leave, we were both filled with hope,
I drove toward my house, excited to be done,
It was Christmas soon, lots of holiday fun.
I climbed into bed, and fell asleep in a wink,
I could finally relax, or so I did think,
When all of a sudden, there arose such a clatter,
My smartphone was pinging, what could be the matter?
The message was SNMP, boy it was bad,
The HP had locked up, what I dilemma I had,
Do I throw on my clothes and drive back to work?
Do I spoil Christmas for everyone, on the HP’s quirk?
Then I remembered, I yelled out a hoot!
I logged into my Server Tech CDU, and just clicked REBOOT!
Datacenter Dynamics also came up with a DC manager’s version of the holiday story. It starts, “Twas the night before Christmas and all through the DC, not a creature was stirring not even a techie. The operators were asleep all tanked on eggnog, while those of us that write are dreaming up blogs.” No matter what version of the Christmas story you are telling this year, happy holidays!
