The United Kingdom has just given Riello a nod when it comes to energy efficiency.
The Riello UPS Multi Sentry range of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) listed in the 30 and 100 kVA range has been placed on the Energy and Climate Change (DECC) Energy Technology List (ETL). The list promotes technologies that help business use less energy.
Beyond just highlighting energy efficient devices, inclusion on the list also means that customers who use the Riello UPS systems can qualify for tax relief of more than about $41,000 from the government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme set up by the Carbon Trust (News - Alert) to encourage the reduction of carbon emissions. Tax relief makes the Riello UPS Multi Sentry range even more appealing in that it effectively subsidizes some of the UPS costs.
“The inclusion of our Multi Sentry range on the list represents a significant advantage over competitors by giving buyers the opportunity to own a highly efficient UPS system and benefit from lower energy bills – and with lower capital expenditure,” said Jason Yates, technical services manager of Riello UPS Ltd.
The list also shows the company’s commitment to environmental friendliness.
“Products undergo rigorous energy efficiency testing before being included on the list, so the qualification is testament to our team’s hard work and echoes our commitment to being Europe’s most environmentally friendly power protection company,” added Yates.
Multi Sentry has been designed and built using state-of-the art technologies in order to deliver maximum protection for critical users, a zero impact on the mains power supply and a high operating efficiency, according to the company. The high level of flexibility at the design stage means there is full compatibility both with three-phase power and with single-phase sources, which eliminates any critical factors in the connection between UPS and system.
It features low input current distortion of less than 3 percent, a high input power factor 0.99, power walk-in function to achieve progressive rectifier start-up, and delayed start-up on mains power supply return, according to the company.
Multi Sentry also performs the role of a high specification filter, protecting its power supply sources (mains or generator) from any harmonics and reactive power generated by the loads it is powering.
The units are designed to work with VRLA AGM and GEL lead-acid batteries including open-vented types, in addition to Ni-Cads.
The included PowerShield monitoring and shutdown software comes with SNMP agent, and the UPSs are compatible with TeleNetGuard for the remote assistance service.
It features RS232 or USB serial port, and has three communication slots for accessories including network adapters and volt-free contacts. It also has REPO (Remote Emergency Power Off) to shut down the UPS remotely in an emergency, input for connection of an auxiliary contact for an external manual bypass, input for synchronization with an external power source, and a graphic mimic panel display for remote connection.
